Financial Modelling Analyst

We are looking for a hands-on, finance professional to support the UK Insurance Financial Planning and Analysis function. This is a great opportunity to gain a wide knowledge of the business, involvement in key financial analysis and to build relationships with senior management across Admiral Group.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a good understanding of the activities of the Group and a strong working relationship with managers across the various businesses in UK insurance, to provide financial and numerical analysis on a variety of subjects.
  • Taking on a key role in the planning/budget/forecast cycle, including the development of long-term business plans for UK Insurance product lines and business units.
  • Owning and developing the planning models for UK insurance.
  • Preparation of presentations and analysis for Senior Management and the Group Boards.
  • Developing a process to monitor performance across UK Insurance to identify areas requiring investigation and further analysis and communicating issues and conclusions effectively to Executive Management teams.
  • Performing ad-hoc financial reviews to assess various aspects of the Group’s performance, including deep-dive reviews into various business segments
  • Providing financial and analytical support for UK Insurance projects and key strategies to support management decisions.
  • Liaising with the UK pricing and reserving teams to develop regular reports on underwriting performance for the Board of one of the Group’s insurance companies, identifying trends and issues where appropriate
  • Providing general support and ad-hoc reviews as required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Strong academic background with strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • An accounting qualification would be desirable
  • Strong financial modelling skills, experience of building and improving financial models in a financial services environment would be beneficial.
  • Commercial outlook is essential, and experience in preparing business plans, producing detailed financial analysis and Board reporting would be beneficial
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with and influence all types of people and all levels of management
  • Self-motivator, proactive and committed in all aspects of the role
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, and proficiency in using other MS Word and PowerPoint

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
