We have a new and exciting opportunity within our IT department for an IT Project Manager who would be responsible for managing projects, largely from the IT portfolio, including technical/infrastructure and development based, using our in-house project management framework.
Ensuring projects are appropriately planned, organised, led, and reported; adhering to PMO standardised procedures, whilst meeting objectives on time and on budget.
Your day-to-day duties and responsibilities will include:
Use our in-house PM framework to deliver enterprise-level projects with an appropriate level of planning and governance that provides the right balance of agility and predictability
Select the appropriate governance approach for each project, bringing the best of Agile or Waterfall to the table
Manage several concurrent, high-profile projects using our in-house project management framework that may cross multiple business units and one or more 3rd party providers
Ensure projects are appropriately planned, organised, lead, and reported to meet objectives on time and on budget
Lead and motivate the Scrum teams assigned to your projects, to deliver against their commitments and remove blockers to the project
Encourage sustainable high performance and quality
Support the day to day running of the Scrum teams assigned to your projects by ensuring all Agileceremonies run smoothly and have a productive outcome and impediments are removed
Empower the project teams so that they are fully engaged in the project and understand the business goals and objectives so that they feel they are making a valuable contribution to the business
Manage sponsor and stakeholder expectations of project deliverables. Define, manage and deliver project communications, including progress updates and steering groups
Drive the practice of minimal viable product, ensuring core features of change are identified and prioritised to deliver early business value.
Support the Scrum teams to implement MVP
Work with the Architecture and Design authorities to ensure that solutions stay within the scope of the project and MVP is always considered.
To be considered you will need:
Significant experience in managing infrastructure projects with the ability to take part in technical discussions and translate them into project plans and stakeholder reporting
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and practices, as well as expert knowledge of Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and when best to apply them
Strong and diverse experience in delivering multi-discipline business and technology projects using Agile methodologies
Experience in leading multi-function project teams including business and technology SMEs. Strong leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills
Proven working knowledge of Agile practices, values, and principles
Experience in change management principles, methodologies, and tools with a solid understanding of how people go through change and the change curve
Good level of technical understanding to provide credible leadership to the development community and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
Hours of work:
General office hours, Monday – Friday. Flexi-time and hybrid working options will be available, working a minimum of 2 days per week at head office in Leominster, Herefordshire.
