Finance Business Partner

Overview:

The Royal Society of Chemistry has a great opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team on a permanent basis.

As a Finance Business Partner for the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) you will work alongside key business decision makers, to influence and shape financial plans and advise on future direction and charitable investment choices to drive and achieve their strategic goals. You will support senior stakeholders and their teams whilst providing decision making support through reporting, analysis and commercial insight that links financial reports to organisational strategies and maintains a strong system of accounting controls. A key element of the role is providing support with forecasting and business planning.

You will be a member of a team of Finance Business Partners, reporting into the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. The team works closely with each of the business units and other relevant teams such as the Portfolio Management office, to become trusted financial advisers within the Royal Society of Chemistry, providing financial support, business analysis, management reporting and customer focussed financial information to the organisation.

The role has no direct reports, carries with it considerable autonomy and requires close collaboration with other members of the team and other stakeholders across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have excellent inter-personal and communication skills, will be comfortable proactively managing a number of diverse projects, making recommendations and will be able to act as an effective representative of the finance function in its interaction with the wider RSC. A passion for continuous improvement and commercial acumen to maximise revenues and/or cost efficiencies to generate maximum charitable impact is essential. This role will require a relevant DBS and qualification check.

We are looking for:
Prior experience in finance business partnering, with a focus on continuous improvement and strong commercial acumen, able to manage conflicts, ambiguity and risk and to plan, organise and prioritise demanding workloads to meet deadlines.
Excellent relationship building and communication skills, able to support and influence stakeholders, convey complex financial information, work confidently with external parties and develop networks.
Strong financial planning and business analysis skills, able to generate and model budgets and longer-term financial models and interpret financial appraisal models.
Strong general accounting skills (qualified ACA/ACCA/ACMA/CIPFA accountant or demonstrable equivalent experience with knowledge of current applicable Accounting Standards for the provision of objective accounting advice).
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, with experience of financial modelling. Knowledge of Netsuite and Adaptive Insights will be beneficial.
Understanding of ethics and ethical considerations and approaches.
At the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge office, you will also be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend our offices as needed for your role. In this role you may attend our Cambridge office at least 1 day per week (initially more frequently to support your induction) and occasionally our London office.
