Friends of the Earth Scotland
We’re campaigning for a world where everyone can enjoy a healthy environment and a fair share of the Earth’s resources. Climate change is the greatest threat to this aim, that’s why we’re calling for a just transition to a 100% renewable, nuclear-free, zero-fossil-fuel Scotland.
We are a team of 20 staff and a network of thousands of supporters and active local groups. We are part of Friends of the Earth International – the largest grassroots environmental network in the world uniting 73 member groups and millions of supporters.
Friends of the Earth Scotland (FoES) started in 1978 by a group of passionate people motivated to fight for environmental justice. With just a small group of volunteers in a basement room, FoES has evolved into Scotland’s leading environmental campaigning organisation, consisting of a 20-strong staff team based in a city centre eco-office. All of this has been made possible by our fantastic loyal supporters.
Working at Friends of the Earth Scotland
“Our vision is of a world where systems of power and resource use are transformed so that all living beings and ecosystems have what they need to flourish, now and in the future.” (Friends of the Earth Scotland – Strategy 2024 – 2026)
We are Scotland’s leading environmental campaigning group and work to help people in Scotland to look after the planet for everyone’s future. Working with us will give you the opportunity to be part of a strong and collaborative team that is tackling head-on one of the biggest challenges facing our society.
You will help us deliver transformative solutions to climate change and other environmental problems. Whether campaigning for a Just Transition or working behind the scenes in our Operations Team, your work will enable and empower people to take individual and collective action.
We are looking for people who share and will uphold our values throughout their employment with Friends of the Earth Scotland.
From the first step you decide to take with us, we will make sure you get all the support you need to be the best you can be as part of our team. If you are considering applying for a role with us, our Recruitment Pack [coming soon] will give you an insight into what to expect throughout your journey.
